Extracurricular activities

Rotherglen students in Grades 7 and 8 are taught 11 different subjects by a team of nine specialty teachers. Included in those 11 subjects are the six core subjects of English, mathematics, French, science, history and geography. Complementing these to create a balanced curriculum are physical education, art, music, computers and health education.

The goal in our Upper School program is to prepare each individual student for their entrance into high school.

To achieve this goal, we focus on the following principles:

  • Instilling a moral obligation to achieve to one’s ability;
  • Providing an enriched academic program;
  • Focusing on the development of organizational skills.

All Grade 7 and 8 students write one set of six final exams during the second week of June. Each exam is 90 minutes in length and covers the year’s curriculum in each of the six core subjects.
