                                                       " Lest We Forget"

                                                Grade Four and Five                                                                             

Language: November is a busy month in the class. Both grades are working on book reports. The due date for this assignment is Friday November  17th. Rough copies are to be submitted along with edited versions of their work. In Creative Writing our poetry study will continue. The children will be writng Cinquain and h poetry. In Grammar we will be studying verbs, plurals and possessive nouns.

 

                                               

 

 

Math and Geometry : The grade fours will be learning to calculate averages this month.They will be introduced to rounding numbers to the nearest ten, hundred and thousand. In Geometry the children will be reviewing and measuring angles. The grade fives will be introduced to the concept of Volume. They will learn to calculate the volume of squares and rectangles. In addition, the grade fives will resume studying corresponding and adjacent angles.

                                                                                            

 

                                                                                                                                                    

Culture; The grade fours are researching flowers in November. They will be introduced to the Timeline of Humankind. In Geography they will study various types of Winds. The grade fives are studying Weather and concepts such as temperature, wind, humidity and clouds. They will complete the unit by learning the water cycle.

                                                                          

                                                

                                 

Physical Education: Rotherglen is happy to implement tennis lessons into our program. Our class begins lessons at 1:00pm until 2:00pm. The Ontario Racket Club is located on Southdown Road at Lakeshore Boulevard.

                                   

                                                                                                   

                                             

                                                  

                                                              

 

Art: We will be studying Still Life this month. The children will learn how various artists became famous by painting fruits and vegetables!! They will be creating their own masterpieces on canvases.
