Extracurricular Activities
A variety of afterschool programs have been devised for students in Grades 4 to 8 to enrich their learning experience at Rotherglen. It is highly recommended that each student become involved and enroll in these programs. A schedule of extracurricular activities will be distributed at the beginning of each term. Some of the activities will include soccer, basketball, track and field, running club, floor hockey, chess, computers etc.
Each year, Rotherglen presents a musical production. Auditions are held in October and the performance takes place in May. Rehearsal times are published after final casting and usually take place after school with Saturday rehearsals scheduled in April and May. Students should be made aware that responsibility and commitment are part of participating in the musical which includes attendance at all rehearsals, learning of lines and keeping up with school work. Past productions have included: Oliver, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins and Annie.
All students in Grades 1 to 3 have the opportunity to participate in a non-academic, interest club in the third term of the year. Activities include outdoor games, dance and movement, the pony club, board games, cooking club and more.
